(New Orleans, LA) The much-anticipated showdown and one of college football’s most exciting rivalries, took center stage as Southern University and Grambling State faced off in the 51st Annual Bayou Classic.
For the third straight year, the Jaguars claimed victory, cementing their dominance over the Tigers in this marquee HBCU matchup. Southern (8-4, 6-1 SWAC) powered past Grambling (5-7, 2-5 SWAC) with a commanding 24-14 win, ensuring the Bayou Classic trophy made its way back to Baton Rouge once again. The Jaguars established an early lead and never looked back, wrapping up their regular season in style.
“Coach (Terrance) Graves called it the state championship”, said Southern running back Kendric Rhymes. “This game is about bragging rights, recruitment, and showing who’s on top—and [right now] that’s Southern.”
